Caja Automatica Aw4 Atf+3 ó Dexron III ?
 

TENGO ENTENDIDO QUE LAS CHEROKEES XJ AUTOMATICAS (LA MAYORIA) VINIERON CON CAJA AUTOMATICA AW4 . AHORA BIEN LA PREGUNTA ES LA SIGUIENTE:

AQUI EN VENEZUELA SI VAS A UN CONCESIONARIO O TALLER AUTORIZADO JEEP TE INDICAN QUE EL ACEITE DE LA TRANSMISIÓN AUTOMATICA ES EL ATF+3, ACTUALMENTE SE CONSIGUE ATF+4 Y TE DICEN QUE LO PUEDES UTILIZAR SIN PROBLEMAS .
SIN EMBARGO:
-EN EL CATALOGO QUE TENGO DE MI CHEROKEE 1988 TE INDICA CLARAMENTE DEXRON III MERCON.
-EN EL MANUAL DE XJ JEEP QUE BAJE EN ESTA PAGINA TE INDICA EN LA PAGINA 12 QUE EL ACEITE DE LA AW4 ES DEXRON II ( POR LO TANTO PUEDO USAR DEXRON III).
- EN UN CENTRO DE LUBRICACIÓN ESPECIALIZADO ( QUICKYLUB EN VZLA.) TE COLOCAN EL DEXRON III DE MOBIL.
-EN LA PAGINA http://www.allpar.com/fix/trans.html TE ADVIERTEN QUE EL ACEITE PARA AW4 ES ES DEXRON III, NO EL ATF+3

Greg, a DCX tech, wrote that the AW4/AX4 transmission was used on 4.0L 6-cyl Jeep Cherokees through the end of their production, and on the first six-cylinder 1993 Grand Cherokees (built in 1992 and 1993), but on the Grand Cherokee it was phased out midway through the 1993 model year. This transmission requires Dexron, while the 42RE / A500SE which replaced the Aisin-Warner transmission midway in the 1993 model year needs ATF+4. Again, if you are confused, you may just want to try one of the new universal fluids that is both Dexron and ATF+4 compatible.

Un consejo de pana despues de leer mucho sobre ese tema: JAMAS uses otro aceite que no sea Dexron II en la caja AW4; no le pongas ATF 3 o 4 ni DEXRON III (no es lo mismo que el dos, mosca!)

Pero resulta que, por ejemplo, tengo entendido que en en caso de aceites de marca no se consigue el Dexron II sino el Dexron III, este es el caso de Mobil !!! abajo te coloco una respuesta que me dieron en otro foro:

ATF+3 no esta la misma formulación como Dexron-III. Usted es correcto, la transmisión AW4 requiere Dexron. Los comerciantes de Chrysler tratan de usar ATF+3 porque todos las transmisiones de Chrysler usan ese líquido y eso es lo que los comerciantes mantienen en sus inventarios. Tenemos el mismo problema con algunos comerciantes de Chrysler aquí en los EE.UU. que llegaron a ser los comerciantes de Jeep recientemente.

ATF+3 tendrán como resultado el fracaso temprano de la transmisión AW4.

ATF+3 is not the same formulation as Dexron-III. You are correct, the AW4 transmission requires Dexron. Chrysler dealers try to use ATF+3 because all Chrysler transmissions use that fluid and that is what the dealers keep in their inventory. We have the same problem with some Chrysler dealers here in the U.S. who became Jeep dealers recently.

ATF+3 will result in early failure of the AW4 transmission.
